Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost For His Highest for July 9th asks:
“If we really believed that God meant what He said – what should we be like! Dare I really let God be to me all that He says He will be?”
To answer this, I’d have to know what He said, then choose to free fall into his upturned hand each and every time a choice is presented.
In the first verse of the 15th chapter of Genesis (KJV), it is written:
“After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”
What if God were speaking to all of us for all time. How would we be if we knew He was our shield and exceeding great reward? A smile creeps across my face the way dawn’s light moves slowly up the windows across the way on the hotel wing, slowly, deliberately, obliterating the darkness simply being itself: unapologetic, full of grace, effortlessly filling every corner without diminishing or depleting itself because it is connected to the source, is one with its creator.
So shall it be with every one who chooses God’s will. Ashé, make it so.
